The Accu-Chek SmartGuide is an AI-enabled Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system that provides real-time glucose readings every 5 minutes and predictive alerts for future glucose levels.

Key Features & Capabilities

14-Day Wear Time: The water-resistant sensor is worn on the upper arm for up to two weeks.

AI Predictions: Uses AI-trained algorithms to offer three types of forecasts through the SmartGuide Predict app:

Low Glucose Predict: Alerts you 30 minutes before a predicted low.

Glucose Predict: Shows a 2-hour forecast of your glucose levels in a graph.

Night Low Predict: Estimates the risk of nocturnal hypoglycemia for the upcoming 7 hours before you sleep.

High Accuracy: Features an overall Mean Absolute Relative Deviation (MARD) of 9.2%, indicating clinical reliability.

Connectivity: Sends data via Bluetooth Low Energy to a smartphone, where it can be viewed on the Accu-Chek SmartGuide app or mySugr app depending on your region.

Usage & Modes

The system requires an initial calibration routine involving two blood glucose tests via a traditional meter: 

Trend Mode: The initial mode after a 1-hour warm-up. Readings are for reference only and should not be used for insulin dosing.

Therapy Mode: Activated after successful calibration (performed 12 hours after insertion). In this mode, readings can be used for therapy decisions like insulin dosing.
