Tracheostomy dressing/s is used to protect the tracheal stoma and act as a barrier between the physical environment and protects the periwound (surrounding skin) in the stoma. It is normally changed once per shift or as needed depending on the mucous production and secretion of the patient. A good quality dressing might be expensive initially but will be cost efficient in the long-term.
